Possum invades home through chimney

This brush tail possum came through the chimney of a mitchelton home in Brisbane.  He or she had let curiosity get the better them and whilst snooping around, as possums do, fell down the chimney flue and was discovered looking out of the glass fronted wood burner. The owner opened the door and out it went, straight for the lampshade.  The owner did the right thing, after politely asking for a few snapshots and turned off all the lights and opened the front door and this brushy wondered out into the night as if everything was normal.  Possums dropping down un-proofed chimneys is a fairly common call out for me.  Ive even been on jobs were the possum hasn’t been noticed until it was too late and only the smell drew the owners attention.  Very sad indeed.   I get a lot of possum removal and proofing jobs in and around this lovely part of Brisbane.  Keperra, Gaythorne, Enoggera, Arana Hills have all been busy suburbs for me as far as possum removals and possum proofing is concerned.  Did you know that 99% of possum removals are brush tail possums like this one pictured.  Ring tail possums will rarely present as a problem in your home or ceiling. They  build nests or “dreys” as they are called from branches and foliage and generally prefer not to invade homes.
